14 Tips To Catch Repeat Visitors To Your Websites

Friday, June 30th, 2024

1. Your home or opening page should contain a clear explanation of what your site is all about. No one wants to waste time clicking on links and going through pages of text just to discover what your intentions are.

2. Your site must be easily navigable. A site menu at the top, bottom, or side of each page is very helpful especially for a first time visitor, especially if your site has lots of pages.

3. Your site’s content is its heart, so make sure that it has substance. The content is you talking to the visitor, so you should be concerned about making a good impression.

4. Your links should be clearly labeled. If a link leads to a guestbook, a ‘Guestbook’ name for such link is direct and straight to the point.

5. Dark text on light background is best for reading. Black text on white background is the most readable. Light on dark can work too, but it tends to be glaring for some people.

6. Your color scheme must fit the mood of the content of your site and suit your target audience. Whatever colors you use, make sure that they all go with each other. Clashing colors can be a major eyesore.

7. For uniformity purposes, the pages’ layout must be the same with one another unless it is completely necessary to break the pattern.

8. Make sure that your layout that is viewable for all screen resolutions. Avoid too-long and too-wide pages so that people with bigger screen resolutions would not have to scroll up-down and side-to-side.

9. A page with graphics, animation, Flash movies, and music takes more time to load than one without. If you bombard your site with these accessories, many visitors will not hang around and wait for the pages to load especially if they are using dial-up connection. Besides, too much of a good thing is tacky. Use these add-ons sparingly.

10. Follow all HTML standards so your website will be compatible with commonly used browsers, namely Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla. If you can make your site viewable for most browsers, so much the better.

11. Some browsers are set not to accept plug-ins. Some are set to text-only. Whatever browser settings the visitor has, you should have made sure that the site is still aesthetically appealing in all possible circumstances.

12. If you are going to use graphics, make sure that they are of high resolution. This is especially important if you are selling products and using photos to showcase your goods.

13. Before publishing your website, road-test it first by browsing through it as if you are a first time visitor. This is the best way to sort out any kinks that would have been otherwise overlooked.

14. If you have no web design and html knowledge, hire a web designer to build your site. If you have no web design knowledge but have little html knowledge, you may buy pre-made web templates, here is a collection of professional web templates that you can use:
http://www.marktse.com/template/

In the end, freshness is the most essential feature your site should have. The internet is highly dynamic so do not let your site get stuck in a rut. Always keep your site updated in terms of content. Enhance the aesthetics of the site every now and then. If you think your site’s look is on its way to being outdated, do not be afraid of giving it a major overhaul. After all, makeovers seem to be the craze right now.

How To Make A Lot Of Money On The Internet Doing Nothing

Friday, June 30th, 2024

It’s an urban legend, of course. But yet, that ideaology is still pervasive on the Internet.

So, I’m here to give it to you straight. Yes, you can make a lot of money on the Internet. But you first have to take the time necessary to educate yourself on Internet marketing. And after you do that, you have to work your butt off!

Now I’m sure many of you reading this article don’t want to hear that. And those guilty of helping to perpetuate the myth point to the success of the current “flavor of the month,” Brad Fallon.

However, what they don’t tell you is while Brad is doing exceptionally well right now, initially him and his wife Jennifer busted their butts, working day and night fulfilling their many orders.

All of the successful people I know work hard like that. In
fact, some of the most successful people I know work the
longest hours.

Take me for instance. Most mornings I get up at five or six
o’clock, because I can’t wait to get started. And most
nights, I don’t get offline until around 10 or 11:00.

Now by my calculations, those are 17 or 18 hour work days.
But it doesn’t seem like work to me at all, because I’m
doing what I love. And that’s the whole point! I’m not
putting in those hours because I have to, I’m doing it
because I want to.

Why? Because I live by a certain philosophy which is:

“Any success you achieve will be in direct proportion to
your hard work, desire and determination. The harder you work and the more desire and determination you have, the greater will be your success.”

The above philosophy (which I coined, by the way) keeps me
focused, hungry and working hard. Oh sure, I could work an hour or two on my computer every day and goof off the rest of the time. And do you know what would happen to my earnings? They would plummet–as would the earnings of most of my collegues, if they started playing more than working.

In conclusion, short of winning the lottery, robbing a bank or inheriting a fortune, with very few exceptions, I know of no legitimate way to make a lot of money without working hard for it!]]>

Do not spend money buying a list of valuable keywords, this information is available for free online. What’s more in your initial experimental stage with keywords buying a list will not be a prudent thing to do. One of the reason is that there is no guarantee that your using certain keywords will automatically and quickly attract the desired high value click ads. There is no certainty in these things. However by consistently using high value keywords you will ultimately enjoy a much higher income than somebody who does not.

Here is a useful link for checking keyword values. It is an overture tool but will also give you a very good idea of what their competitors Google charge for the same keywords.

Write interesting relevant content

Writing interesting, relevant and captivating content for your website or blog will yield many useful benefits that will ultimately impact on your google adsense earnings. To start with, it is a well know fact that the longer you can keep your visitors in your site, the higher the chances of you selling them something. The same is true with clicks the longer you can keep them wandering around your site the higher the chances that they will end up clicking at some of your google ads and thus earn you something. Well written, relevant content will also make cause your visitors to return again, another vital and highly desirable reaction that makes a website successful. It is much easier to attract back a previous visitor than to win over a new one.

Post your content elsewhere

Posting your quality, attractive content elsewhere will increase the number of quality links leading back to your site. This will help build up the traffic to your website which should have a direct bearing on your google earnings. The higher the traffic a site has, the higher the clicks and this means higher earnings.

The position of your adsense ads matters

Do not ignore advice given by google to affiliates on where ads work best. For example posting them on the left is always better than the right because the eye’ attention will always be caught by the left before the right. Another good place to post ads is at the bottom of the page.]]>

How to Prepare IT Certification Exams

Wednesday, June 28th, 2024

Thorough planning before the exams will boost your confidence, increase chance of success, and save time of preparation in your certification exams.

1.Assess whether you’re ready

To answer the question of whether you’re ready to pursue a particular IT certification - MCSE, MCSA, MCSD, CCIE, CCNA or CCNE certification, you may want to examine the questions from the latest certification exams to identify the gap between what you’ve known and what you need to know. It’s not advisable to prepare an IT certification exam heavily based on working on actual certification questions or braindumps, but braindumps do offer values in preparing your tests. You’ll learn the format of the exams, the scope of the exams and your weakest link in the subject.

2.Plan when you’ll be ready

One certification usually requires the pass of several tests. Once you’ve made up your mind about taking the certification exams, the plan of when to take those tests depends on your career needs, domain knowledge, hands-on experience, availability of study materials and availability of your time to prepare the tests. Besides the official certification guide and reading materials published by vendors or authorized organizations, there’re numerous other helpful learning materials available online or in print.

Use of Computer Based Training software is a very effective way to speed up your IT certification preparation. For instance, CBT Planet (Computer Based Training Planet) provides IT professionals comprehensive vendor-co developed self-study IT courses, by Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, SAP, Linux and more.

3.Prepare the exams step-by-step

a) Briefly scan all chapters of official publications and make a detailed plan.

b) Study the materials chapter by chapter in details and take notes.

c) Review your notes and summarize all chapters.

d) Take sample exams

e) Work on your weak spots.

Now, you’re ready for your IT certification exams.

20 Ways To Increase Your Traffic And Sales With e-Books

Tuesday, June 27th, 2024

But before rushing to create your masterpiece, you must first consider your intended target audience and then decide on the kind of content you wish to offer them.

Once this decision has been made, it’s time to begin writing the headline and title of your sales letter and e-book. You should spend some time with this to be sure that your headline and title are catchy, targeted and contain one or more of the relevant keywords of your topic.

Next, start writing your sales letter and when finished, use the sales letter headline, e-book title and sales letter as an outline to begin writing your e-book.

Still not convinced of how easy it is to write and distribute an e-book to increase traffic, leads and sales for your business? If not, here are 20 creative ways which will motivate you to get started:

1. People love to get free stuff. A free eBook is perfect. They will visit your web site to get the free valuable information.

2. Give away the full version of your eBook in exchange for testimonials. You can use these customer statements to improve your ads’ effectiveness.

3. When you write and give away a free eBook you will become known as an expert. This will gain people’s trust and they will buy your main product or service quicker.

4. Publish your web site in eBook format. Put the eBook on a disk or CD-ROM then include it with your direct mail packages. This can increase the number of people that buy your product or service.

5. Offer your eBook as a free bonus for buying one of your main products or services. People will buy the product or service more often when you offer a free bonus.

6. Allow people to download your eBook for free, if they give the e-mail addresses of 3 to 5 friends or associates that would be interested in your eBook. This will quickly build your e-mail list.

7. Create a directory of web sites in eBook form. List peoples web sites in the directory that will agree to advertise the eBook on their web site or e-zine. This will give them an incentive to give away or advertise your eBook.

8. Allow other people to give away your free eBook. This will increase the number of people that will see your ad in the eBook. You could also include a mini catalog of all your product or services that you offer in the eBook.

9. Gain new leads by having people sign up and give you their contact information before they can download your eBook. This is a very effective way to conduct market research.

10. Make money selling advertising space in your eBook. You could charge for full page color ads, classified ads or banners ads. You could also trade advertising space in your eBook for other forms of advertising.

11. Give away the eBook as a gift to your current customers as a way of letting them know you appreciate their business. Place an ad in the eBook for a new back end product you’re offering

12. Get free advertising by submitting your eBook to freebie and freeware/shareware web sites. This will increase the number of people that will download your eBook and see your ad.

13. Make money by selling the reprint rights to those that would like to sell the eBook. You could also make even more money by selling the master rights. This would allow other people to sell the reprint rights.

14. Hold a contest on your web site so people can win your eBook. You’ll get free advertising by submitting your contest ad to free contest or sweepstakes directories.

15. You will gain valuable referrals from people telling others about your eBook. Word of mouth advertising can be very effective.

16. Make money cross promoting your eBook with other people’s products or services. This technique will double your marketing effort without spending more time and money on your part.

17. Increase your e-zine subscribers by giving away your eBook to people that subscribe to your e-zine. This will give people an incentive to subscribe. Allow your e-zine subscribers to also give it away to multiply your subscribers.

18. Give away the eBook to people that join your affiliate program. This will increase the number of people that sign-up. You could also create an eBook for them to use that will help them promote your product or service.

19. Give away the eBook in exchange for people leaving their contact information. This will help you follow-up with the prospects who buy your main product or service.

20. Offer a free eBook that contains a couple of sample chapters. If they like it, give them the option of ordering the full version. It would work just like a software demo or shareware.

Do you need to be an established writer to author your own e-book? No! If the contents of your e-book is legible, targeted and has a perceived value to your audience, it should be well received. Should my e-book be long and filled with a bunch of fluff and filler? Absolutely not! It should be just long enough to get your point across to the reader and short enough to avoid fluff and filler. So there you have it. Start preparing to write your own e-book using the simple 3-step outline presented above. Use the 20 creative techniques for distributing it and watch your traffic and sales soar!

How To Really Profit from Domain Names

Tuesday, June 27th, 2024

million dollars? Inspired by this, you imagine registering
a great domain name, hanging onto it for a while, and then
selling it off to become the next multi-millionaire. It
could happen, but don`t count on it!

First of all, many of the truly great domain names are
already taken. Second, the dot com bust took some of the
wind out of inflated domain name prices. (If you sell your
domain name for millions of dollars worth of stock in a
publicly traded dot com flop, what is the name really
worth?)

The cybersquatter buys domain names totally on speculation.
Sometimes he will register names of famous brands,
companies, or individuals. Time and again, these domain
name speculators learn the hard way that they must respect
intellectual property rights. They hope that some large
corporation will pay big bucks to them for the use of the
company`s own (already trademarked) name. Instead, they
end up with threatening letters from a law firm for their
attempts at extortion.

However, you can still make money from domain names if
you are sensible in your approach. Here are some
suggestions on ways to profit.

1. Affiliate Programs: Use your domain name to promote an
appropriate affiliate program. Either redirect to the
affiliate site or write a review that links to them.

2. Informational Sites: Create content and then profit
from it by earning advertising revenue through Google
AdSense or a similar program.

3. Redirect to Your Own Site: Some reasons you might want
to do this include preventing competitors from using a
particular domain name and benefiting from searches some
users perform by domain name. (For example, if they wanted
to order flowers, they might just type “flowers.com” in
their web browser. You could get some traffic and sales
this way.)

4. Product Sites: Create your own or sell someone else`s
product appropriate to your domain name.

5. Park Your Domain Names: You might feel that your name
has real potential for resale value. There are companies
that will allow you to park your domain on their servers,
advertise that your name is for sale, and split advertising
revenue with you.

The trick is to generate traffic for your domain name. That
traffic in turn will create revenue. Then, when you go to sell
your domain name, you will have a few things going for you.

First, you will have a fully developed website. A fully
constructed building on a piece of land increases
the value of the real estate property. Similarly, the
value of your domain name is enhanced by a complete and
operating website.

Second, you have traffic. Just as a shopping mall with no
traffic results in no sales, so a website must have traffic
to generate income.

Third, you have income. An income property, such as an
apartment building, can be appraised on the basis of its
income (as well as other factors). Similarly, the gross
income, net profits and cashflow of a website have value.
For example, if someone offered you $1,000 for your
domain name and website when it was generating $10,000 per
day in profits, you would likely laugh at him.

You really can profit from your domain name investments
by adding value and properly developing your web
properties.]]>

3 Proven Ways To Build Your Opt-In List

Monday, June 26th, 2024

If you’ve been involved in online marketing for any amount
of time, you’ve probably heard the phrase “The money is in
the list!” Why? Because those who are successful online use
their mailing list to generate massive profits. It’s no
secret! A large list equals instant cash. But how do you
build your own responsive list?

Here are three proven methods anyone can use to build their
own guru sized mailing list.

1. Co-registration Lists

Co-registration is the secret tool many gurus use to build
their lists to jaw dropping numbers. It’s now possible to
have a targeted list of 100,000 subscribers in as little as
one month.

Co-registration companies are able to generate these large
numbers by placing small advertisements for your list on
various websites across the internet.

Sounds great, right?

There are a couple of drawbacks to using this method.
You’ll usually pay a hefty fee, and the subscribers will
not be as responsive as the one you collect from your own
website.

But if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to build the
giant opt-in list you’ve always wanted, co-registration is
the route for you.

2. Write Articles

Writing and submitting articles not only creates hundreds
of links to your website, but also gives you the
opportunity to generate thousands of new subscribers.

At the bottom of each article, you should provide a five
line advertisement for your mailing list known as the
resource box. Inside your resource box, you should offer a
free report or e-book in exchange for the reader’s e-mail
address. You’ll usually see better results if you provide
your auto-responder address inside your resource box rather
than a link to your website.

When you article is published by an e-zine, you’ll have
thousands of responsive readers viewing your article and
resource box. If you’re free offer is a product that many
people will be interested in receiving, you’ll notice a
large spike in new subscribers each time your article is
published.

One of the fastest ways to get your articles noticed is
through an automated service.

3. Pay Per Click Landing Pages

Google AdWords allows anyone to generate almost instant
traffic to their website 24 hours a day. By tapping into
this powerful avenue, you can pick up new subscribers for a
little as .05 a click.

The secret to success with PPC advertising is to create a
landing page. Landing pages are one page websites that
offer a freebie(s) in exchange for the visitors e-mail
address. When a visitor clicks on a PPC ad, they are
directed to a landing page. They can either leave or
provide their contact information. It all depends on your
offer. If you can create enough interest in your offer
through your copy, your landing page will become an e-mail
vacuum.

You’ve just read three powerful list building techniques.
By using one or all of them, you can expect to see
substantial gains in the number of people subscribed to
your mailing list. And before too long, you’ll also be
“bragging” about your guru sized opt-in list.

How to spot Spyware Without your Glasses

Monday, June 26th, 2024

The best thing anyone can do to adequately deal with spyware and adware is to be informed about the issue and proactive in dealing with it. For instance, knowing how to recognize a program as spyware, avoiding certain websites and guarding against malicious software from infesting your hard drive can take you a long way. When armed with the right knowledge you will be able to face the problem without so much worry and fear.

Nobody wants spyware tracking their every computer move, which is why individuals and companies that desire to do so are resorting to more underhanded and covert methods of spyware infection. And as the general computer user becomes more aware of the existence of spyware and adware, they have even more reason to use hidden tactics to achieve their objective and invade your privacy.

In the best case scenario spyware simply archives information related to your browsing habits while you’re online and sends it back to a company that uses the information for advertising research. This type of spyware is commonly referred to as adware. It is not the most harmful form of spyware but can be a nuisance to eliminate and slows down even the fastest of computers.

In the worst case scenario, a keylogging program is installed on your personal computer to collect private information you don’t want falling into the wrong hands – passwords, online banking information, and anything else that you might type into your computer during the normal course of a day. This type of spyware can also track other aspects of computer usage including applications used, instant messenger conversations, hidden windows and mouse clicks.

These programs can infect your computer when you download free programs, so one effective way to avoid spyware is by keeping your system clear of excess junk. If you really don’t need that free fishbowl screensaver, restrain yourself and stick with the ones you already have. Or opt for a high-quality screensaver that costs a little money but will save you a whole lot of frustration. In addition, staying away from freeware sites altogether is recommended because even if you don’t download anything, many sites attach a cookie to your browser after you visit the website that will be used to track your movements online. Avoid questionable websites and you’ll avoid this type of spyware.

Refrain from downloading files from other sources as well. For example, a spyware program can be downloaded through an e-greeting, email, by clicking on a pop-up, or through other sources. To avoid getting infected through a pop-up ad, do not click anywhere on the pop-up window. Instead, click the “X” located in the top right hand corner of the window to close the pop-up entirely. If there is no way to close the window, disconnect from the Internet and close your browser.

Another possible source of spyware infection is a browser toolbar. Many toolbars are set up to track your browsing habits and search queries in order to create targeted advertising. Toolbars can generate pop-ups and even display dynamic ads in the toolbar itself that are based on your interests, as suggested by your online activity. In fact, it may seem as if the websites you visit generate the pop-ups you see, but often these ads are actually produced by the hidden spyware and adware already present on your computer.

Unfortunately, you don’t always have to make the first move to get spyware on your computer. Many people are careful to avoid downloading strange email attachments and stay away from questionable downloads altogether, but this is not enough. There are a growing number of spyware and adware programs on the Internet that specifically take advantage of Windows vulnerabilities to infect your system without your knowledge or consent. Known as a drive-by-download, this type of infection latches onto your computer while you’re online. In this situation, a downloader Trojan is installed on your computer – this program then downloads and executes files from certain locations online whenever your computer is connected to the Internet, all without your help. The downloaded files then display pop-up ads on your computer. The surefire way to avoid most of these programs is by keeping up with Windows security updates. Always install the updates when they are made available and you will be able to circumvent most adware problems that exploit the security holes in Windows.

In particular, rogue anti-spyware and registry cleaner programs are utilizing this type of technology to illicitly promote their products. Once the adware has been secretly installed on your computer, pop-up windows start appearing that are designed to scare you into downloading an anti-spyware or registry cleaner product. Specifically, a window might say you have a spyware threat on your computer and tries to convince you to download the company’s anti-spyware software to rid your computer of the infection. As you might have already guessed, these claims are false – most likely your computer is not infected with spyware (or only infected with the adware originating from the company attempting to sell you the anti-spyware product). Rogue anti-spyware programs are disguised as legitimate solutions for spyware dilemmas but are actually set up to deceive victims into purchasing a product to fix a problem that doesn’t exist. If you don’t want to be conned into buying a fake anti-spyware product, do not respond to this type of pop-up ad.

Signs of Infection

If you do have spyware on your PC you can usually recognize the signs without the “help” of a rogue anti-spyware program. For instance, too much spyware will bog down your system and cause your computer to run slowly. You will probably be overrun by an excess of pop-ups and fake alert messages. In addition, your homepage and list of favorites might suddenly change and reappear even after restoring the default. Other things to look out for:

 A new browser toolbar emerges without your consent, which is impossible to remove
 Every time you conduct an online search the results are redirected to an unfamiliar search engine
 Unexplained calls to 900 numbers begin appearing on your phone bill
 Any anti-spyware or security programs you do have installed stop working
 Your modem’s send and receive lights blink continually even when you are not doing anything online

If you think you do have spyware on your system, the best way to avoid scam artists is to stick with well-known, expert-recommended anti-spyware/adware removal products. Some quick research will give you all the information you need to know about the subject. If you’ve never heard of the company before or suspect suspicious and overblown advertising techniques, stay away. And follow your instincts – if you think a company doesn’t appear professional or trustworthy walk away from the offer. There are several excellent anti-spyware programs available on the market that can help you elude the troubles associated with spyware.]]>

35 Deadly Website Sins That will Kill Your Business!

Sunday, June 25th, 2024

For example, I’ve been working on some offline promotions and was searching for a simple targeted mailing list. I searched through about twenty sites and not one of those sites were, what I would consider, professional. Their standard blue links were enlarged to about a size 16 font, busy backgrounds, flashing images and very unorganized.

Did I purchase a mailing list from any of those sites? Absolutely not. Why? The way I see it, if those companies don’t take pride in their web sites, chances are, they won’t take pride in their products either. Large linked text and flashing graphics won’t make sales.

Your web site is a direct reflection of you and your business. The appearance of your site is the most important factor in determining your sites value. In other words, if your site doesn’t look professional or pleasing to the eyes at first glance, its perceived value and the value of your products and services will be low.

On the other hand, you may have a great web site, well designed and a quality product or service, but if it takes too long to load, the value will still be perceived as low. Why? Because your potential customer won’t wait. Ultimately costing you business.

Another consideration of great importance is your content. Not just links, but content with value. When someone is surfing the net and they visit your web site, they’re visiting for a reason. Your site has something they want. Whether it is your product, service or information, that’s why they’re there. If they don’t find what they’re looking for, they’ll move on to the next site and so on.

If you want your visitors to stay at your site, provide the quality content they’re looking for in a nicely organized fashion. Give them a reason to want to explore your site and to continue to visit your site in the future.

After receiving many questions in regard to web site design, I have devised a list of, what I refer to as, “35 Deadly Web Site Sins.”

- Poor load time
- Poor overall appearance
- Spelling/Grammar
- No contact information
- Poor content
- Poor navigation
- Broken links and graphics
- Poor browser compatibility
- Large slow loading graphics
- Too many graphics
- Pages scrolling to oblivion
- Multiple use of animated graphics
- Animated bullets
- Too many graphic and/or line dividers
- Busy, distracting backgrounds
- Multiple banners and buttons
- Poor use of frames
- Large fonts
- Pop up messages
- Over use of java
- Poor use of tables
- Poor organization
- Different backgrounds on each page
- Over powering music set to autoplay
- Confusing
- Too much advertising
- Large Welcome banners
- Multiple colored text
- Text difficult to read
- No Meta tags
- Multiple use of different fonts
- Under construction signs
- Scrolling text in the status bar
- Large scrolling text across the page
- Poor use of mouse over effects

Take some time to really look at your site. Compare it to sites that you feel look professional. Time your site’s load time — your customers won’t wait. Their time is valuable.

The simple, well designed sites make the sales. If your sales aren’t what you had hoped, take some time to seriously evaluate your site and make some changes before spending your time and money on advertising and marketing. You may be pleasantly surprised.
