Any financial aspect of life should not be undertaken lightly and student loans are no exception.

It doesn’t matter if you are a parent, student or graduate you may need to get a loan or even look at student consolidation loans to help you on your way to the future you want.

The Student Loans Guide can help you to gather the information you need to make an informed decision for you college or school loan.

There are many different types of loans and re-financing packages available through the government or privately. The most common of all are Federal Student Loans that are provided by the government to help you cover some of your fees and expenses during your time at college. This type of loan is a contract between the Government and the student, unlike other types of loan.

If you prefer to look at a different option, or have already been awarded all the money you are entitled from the Government then a private college loan may be for you. The interest rates are higher on this type of loan because the rates are set by a company instead of the Government, although they are regulated. This can be a good option if you require more money half way through your course.

If a private loan is not for you then do not despair! There are other options, please read on...

You may also be able to gain additional money to help you at college through college grants and student scholarships. These can vary slightly but in essence they are pools of money that are given out annually to students that meet certain criteria, for example there may be grants available for students that are studying film in California if your parents earn less than x dollars per year. This type of finance is usually very specific and can be very competitive.

Which ever option you eventually pursue it is important to know that college can be affordable if you do your research and find out all of the available rates and options. Even if you have dabbled with other sources of finance there are still other methods of alternative financing that may be applicable to your circumstances.
